Their Eye's Were Watching God ~ Thesis
Love plays a major role throughout Janie's life, and although she believes to have found love, she has truely missed out on what love really is, and she ends up finding it best, when she isn't looking.

Their Eye's Were Watching God ~ Important Scene 2
The scene where Janie and Joe get into a big fight in the store is an important scene. It sets the picture for how the two stop getting along and begin to fight and their once loving relationship is gone. It shows that Janie finally got up the courage to tell Joe that she was sick of the things he made her do. She didn't want to have to listen to him anymore because he didn't do anything for her. At this point she was so angry she didn't care who heard or how embarrassed she would make him, because she had so much anger within her, that she just couldn't take it anymore. Joe was so angry for what Janie had done that he turned around and hit her right infront of everyone. From that point on Janie and Joe stopped sleeping in the same room, stopped eating the same meals and rarely talked unless it was in argument.

Their Eye's Were Watching God ~ Important Scene
I think the most important scene is when Joe and Janie meet in Chapter 4. If it hadn't been for Joe, I don't think Janie would have set herself free from Logan Killicks. Although she was never inlove with Logan, I think if Joe hadn't given her the out, she would still be with him, because he gave her a place to live, and without him, and with Nanny gone, she would have had no where else to live. Also, if she hadn't met Joe, she wouldn;t have started a new life in a new town, that she had to build with the townsmen, and she would still be under the rules of Logan, who could have even killed her, which he had threatened to do before she fled. The whole storyline would have been different had it not been for the meeting of Joe and I believe that to be the most important Scene so far.

Their Eye's Were Watching God Pg. 1-20
The first quote is about how men will chase their dreams and never take their eye off the gold. Women however, don't pay much attention to dreams, and only focus on what they need to do, remembering what they want and forgetting the rest. I think this quote is Ironic in the since that Janie went far away from this little town, and chased down what she wanted, and lived the way she wanted. The men in the small town however, spend all there time talking about others, and doing there choirs. This shows that the woman chased her dream, but the men sat at home and held on to the memories they wanted, and let go of the rest, which makes the quote opposite of what it is stating.
The second quote is about how Janie feels when she is alone and has no care in the world. She is used to having a busy life with a lot of work to be done, and rarely has time to herself. The quote paints a piccture of the world and nature, and how beautiful things there are in life and around her. But suddenly it hits her that there is so much bad going on around her, and that she is to be merried and she has no intensions in having to get merried. She then relizes that is merriage is a beautiful and free as this nature, maybe it wouldn't be that bad, she just doesn't want to end up with someone she doesn't love, and she wants to be able to pick who she wants to Marry.

Huck Fin
““Mf! And we reckoned the niggers stole it!”
That me made me squirm!”
This quote sums up a lot of the book in just these few words. It shows what time period they were living in, because they have slaves and use the word “nigger” which, in this time, was accepted. It also shows how little respect they had to blacks, and how horribly they were treated, and how if something went wrong, instead of searching for proof of who’s fault it was, they automatically blame the slave. This quote also shows how Huck feels toward there remark and how he by now, he feels like Jim is his friend, not someone who should be treated this way. In just these few words it describes the mentality of each different character.
“Miss Watson, your runaway nigger Jim is down here two mile below Pikesville, and Mr. Phelps has got him and he will give him up for the reward if you send”
This quote is ironic, because throughout the book they talk about how slaves are worthless and are good for nothing, but working, and they aren’t even that good at it, but then they are searching all over for one slave and putting a reward on him.
